Initially i had the idea to do a horror film which also uses old Hollywood glamour. The idea was a horror movie actress becomes desensitized to gore and murder and becomes fascinated with real crime and murder whilst also spiralling down a drug infested path. She eventually becomes so obsessed with murder and becomes obsessed with the idea of committing a murder she goes on a killing spree, I had the idea to have a graphical match cut of her raising an award and knife. I feel this would be an interesting narrative and could do interesting stuff with cinematography but there isn't substance behind it and a reason for it. Another idea I had was inspired by the OJ Simpson trial and the medias treatment of prosecutor Marcia Clarke. I really enjoy films where Genders are swapped and when men and womens roles are switched because I always feel they really do showcase the misogyny in society. This short film follows a woman on a bus at night in a busy city. The film uses eyeline matches to establish relationships between the man and the woman as the nature of their exchanged looks gives us a sense of a flirtatious relationship. When the elderly woman is shot for the bus seat by another passenger it shows that in society we always go the extreme. There is a shot of the woman we are following and the man from before' s hands, they obey the rule of thirds at first staying on other sides of the screen and not using the middle third. However they invade the central third but are separated by people getting off the bus, this could be representative of society impacts our relationships and comes between thigs we maybe are destined for. The synchronized movements at the end are also a testament to how society conditions people to be the same and just be part of a machine and crushes any individuality.

Short film analysis – About a girl   This short film depicts the life of a young girl from a deprived area in the north of England, for the majority she depicts a chaotic but not uncommon life for most people of that social standing for the majority of the film however it turns very dark very quickly with the mentioning of the dog bein killed and the baby thrown into the canal. The jump cuts used continually used throughout increased the pace, the use of the handheld tracking shots which are a social realism convention made what she was talking about real. Throughout the song ‘stronger’ by Brittany Spears is used as a motif, originally I believed it was to showcase how this girl wants to escape her situation but this changed at the end of the film. “How does the aesthetic quality of Trainspotting depict ideological issues of youth and addiction” you must refer to at least 2 scenes. Cinematography is a vital part of Trainspotting and it’s ideology. The cinematography and Mise-en-scene of Boyles 1992 film are key parts of relaying the narrative and showing people the effects of heroin and how one person’s addiction can affect so many people. Trainspotting’s aesthetic is so raw and through surrealism Boyle shows us a harsh reality. For example in the detox scene where Renton is forced to go cold turkey after his final hit the cinematography and aesthetics convey the intensity of how Renton is feeling and makes the audience realise just how dependant on drugs he is. The reverse tracking dolly used at the start of the scene makes the room narrower and makes the rest of the scene feel very claustrophobic and adds to the intensity, along with the pulsating non-diegetic club music which is representative of how Renton ...

The most important influence on a film can be described as the Auter, which is usually discussed in relation to the director but could also be anyone who takes creative control of a project. For example, the film Blade runner the auter can be described as Ridley Scott The director or even some of the actors, like the actor who played Batty. He could be described as an auter because his final monologue he wrote himself, therefore making him, arguably, an auter of Blade Runner. The director is the most important part of the film in regards to how its shot and the plot, but not always the finished product. Studios tend to mess with films and the directors vision for finished product is not always brought to light and the studio can mess with films so much post and during production that its far from the directors original vision. In La La Land, cinematograpgy is key in establishing relationships between characters and getting the response from spectators the director specifically wants. In many of the upbeat scenes and numbers, the camera will quickly pan between characters to keep the pace of the scene very quick to represent its light heartedness. This why this film suits a passive audience because they can pick up on the tone very easily, through fast camera movements and the colourful Mis-en-scene. In the scene\song "Someone in the crowd" there are very few cuts, which is noticable through the whole film. The use of so many long shots could be the director trying to maintain as much verisimilitude throughout the film as possible. With these long shots the camera pans between characters at various different points and the speed at which it happens says a lot about the relationship between the characters and the tne of the scene.
