screenplay- a new perspective

Screenplay

Fade in
POV person 1 walking down a pavement everything from their perspective is warmer and this is to show how they are in a good mental state, person 2 in background but natural amount.
Person 1 walks into college and meets a friend before walking to class, having a general chat

friend1: you alright mate
person 1: yeah mate you alright

friend 1: i actually can't be arsed for film
person 1: i know mate same

In class person 1 is talking to a friend about a party they attended and it is inferred that person 2 'ruined' the party.

Person 2 storms out of the room and breaks a pencil in half
Friend 2: Anger issues

On their way home person 1 sees person 2 about to jump in front of a train, they run to them and stop them.

We revert to the start of the film but it is a lot colder to show their mental state, where person 2 is walking to college with person1 in the background. They follow person 1 into college, and meeting their friend

friend1: you alright mate
person 1: yeah mate you alright

they surpass person 1 and get to class before them, they hear person 1 and friend 2 discussing the party. They then storm out of the classroom and snap a pencil in anger. They leave and find a train track and go to climb over a wall to jump and commit suicide. Person 1 stops them and we see what they look like for the first time in the whole film.

Typewriter font- California 1995 1:00AM on a black screen. Fades out to a BLANK SCREEN ONLY SOUND IS CLOCK TICKING "MARCIA" A curly haired man with an athletic build in a scruffy suit with the top buttons undone and a faint stain on his white sirt. Is sat at his incredibly messy desk with piles of papers and empty fast food containers smoking a cigarette surrounded by papers and documents the office is dark and messy. The walls are grey and the overall feel of the room is very drab and depressing, which the fmily photos upon the desk juxtapose. Marcia has heavy bags under his eyes and messy hair sticking up everywhere. He leans back in his chair sighing, he quickly becomes frustrated with the thought of the trial and it's fustrations which we see through his body language and facial expresions being very slouched over and having little expression in his face. He stands and throws the desks contents to the ground in a fit of fustration. He stands breathing heavily looking...

Short film analysis 2 Connect

This short film follows a woman on a bus at night in a busy city. The film uses eyeline matches to establish relationships between the man and the woman as the nature of their exchanged looks gives us a sense of a flirtatious relationship. When the elderly woman is shot for the bus seat by another passenger it shows that in society we always go the extreme. There is a shot of the woman we are following and the man from before' s hands, they obey the rule of thirds at first staying on other sides of the screen and not using the middle third. However they invade the central third but are separated by people getting off the bus, this could be representative of society impacts our relationships and comes between thigs we maybe are destined for. The synchronized movements at the end are also a testament to how society conditions people to be the same and just be part of a machine and crushes any individuality.

Ideas for short film

Originally, we were planning on a horror and thriller hybrid, and it was going to be about someone just going about their day, but it was to be revealed at the end they're a ghost with a shot of a train passing by and when it has left there being an empty space where the person previously was. It was also going to have a social realism aspect of suicide, as it was also going to be revealed that they'd committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Another possible idea would be a film that focuses on basic problem as a film centred around social realism through a metaphorical way. For example dividing everyone into two catagories and bringing in a 'Romeo and Juliet' element to show that the two groups are not as different as a metaphorical way to deal with social issues that are imbedded into our society.  However we strayed from those idea and have decided to do a film about a psycho stalker who kills the subject of their obsession, it again has an element of s...
