Originally, we were planning on a horror and thriller hybrid, and it was going to be about someone just going about their day, but it was to be revealed at the end they're a ghost with a shot of a train passing by and when it has left there being an empty space where the person previously was. It was also going to have a social realism aspect of suicide, as it was also going to be revealed that they'd committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. Another possible idea would be a film that focuses on basic problem as a film centred around social realism through a metaphorical way. For example dividing everyone into two catagories and bringing in a 'Romeo and Juliet' element to show that the two groups are not as different as a metaphorical way to deal with social issues that are imbedded into our society.  However we strayed from those idea and have decided to do a film about a psycho stalker who kills the subject of their obsession, it again has an element of s...

The scene opens with a mid shot of Ofelia walking through a forest reading a story book, The mise-en-scene is Ofelias dressed in a clothing that looks similar to Alice In wonderland which is an intertextual reference. However instead of Blue she is wearing a green under dress, which is the colour Ofelia wears the most throughout. his could be to show she is part f the fantasy world and is close to nature. The storybook which tells her of what she must do, could be representative of how the whole story links to fairy tales and the genre of fantasy that Del Tororo makes the film in. The mise-en-scene of the forest could show that Ofelia is close with the fantasy world. While Ofelia is walking there is a jump cut to Vidal and his troops going uphill on their horses through the forest, this is to keep the continuity between the two storylines as Ofelia is also walking through the forest.
